About Us
We are there because the vulnerable rural population depend on generous people like you and me to meet up with their daily basic needs
Who We Are
Rural Cameroon Self Reliance Development Organization (RUCADEV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2012. RUCADEV is committed to providing essential aid to disadvantaged communities M’muock region in Cameroon who suffer needlessly from a lack of educational facilities and resources, availability of clean and safe drinking water, and self-reliant economic projects.
RUCADEV was created by Chief Robert N. Forlemu who resides and works in Tucson, Arizona USA, after observing and experiencing the demise inflicted on rural areas in Cameroon in general and on on Mmuock village in particular, as a result of dwindling economic opportunities and development. The founders and supporters of RUCADEV include Americans of Cameroon origin and other US born citizens with the main goal of assuaging these overwhelming burdens.
RUCADEV’s mission is to raise funds, coordinate technical, moral, educational economic development tools that will help meet some basic needs on these communities including: clean safe and potable water, medical facilities, improved educational structures and resources. RUCADEV also strives to create a spirit of self-reliance and entrepreneurship where possible through micro-finance assistance to improve subsistent farming, which is the sole means of income in these rural communities. These burdens in rural communities disproportionately affect women, and children and we strongly believe that educating and assisting them is the best way to develop these rural communities, unleash their innate abilities while kicking out misery and poverty.
Why We do it
We strongly believe that every human being has an innate ability to pursue freedom, happiness and prosperity. These basic tenets of the human race have been missing in some regions of the world and that is why we put together RUCADEV to seek, find, fund and manage programs and projects that aim at improving the lives of communities in Cameroon. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
